For some, the main focus of a holiday is relaxing, or sight seeing, or exploration. For others, the purpose of a vacation is to shop. If that is what you are after, then you’ll have a few key cities in Europe to choose from. But if fashion is a focal point for you, it’s likely you’ve been to Milan or Paris. If you’re looking for something new, then you have to try Vienna, Austria. For the best shopping, you have to start at Vienna’s famous Cathedral and head down the walking street. Thailand though is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world with places like Pataya, Bangkok and Phuket, and many other places that promise amazing activity, great shopping, stunning night-life and invigorating holiday atmosphere. However, one needs to have a good amount of Thailand travel advice so you can enjoy your stay here, be on the right side of the law and travel safely
An important travel advice which any self –respecting person in Thailand would give is to avoid the scam by taxi drivers, tuk-tuk drivers and touts who may tell tourists lies that the site has been closed for a ‘Buddhist holiday’ or some such thing. The driver may then just offer to take you to another place but in the bargain, he will take you through long winding roads and then ask you to pay an outrageously high fee.
Do not purchase sightseeing tours at the airport because the charges are not worth it. Also they do not offer a guide and take you to shops who share commission with these airport tour operators. Also there are some scams where tourists are falsely accused of shoplifting in duty free shops and threatened with long prison sentences, so that you would pay high fees as bail. If you are caught in such a problem, make sure you contact your embassy.
Thailand is a country known for sex tourism. Body massage with sexual services and prostitution are common. If a tourist is caught having sex with a minor, he can be implicated in the home country as well and also tried under Thai laws. All adult Thais have an ID, which state that they are adults. Thailand also has a high rate of STDs and AIDS among general people as well as prostitutes. So if at all, you want to indulge, always insist on having sex with protection. Penalty for possession, manufacture and distribution of drugs are harsh and can include death penalty too.
All of the above Thailand travel advice is not to deprive you of this wonderful place but just to make you understand the laws of this country so that you can have a great hassle-free time.
